PROJECT 365 PICTURE OF THE DAY 4/24/11

Happy Easter! Love these random family self-portraits. We were heading out to meet the whole Nelson family (17 of us) at The Meadows for Easter lunch and then cake over at mom and dads. With everything getting hectic with Grammama's condition, their moving and moms upcoming knee replacement, Easter snuck up on us. We knew it would be nice to all get together and it ended up being a perfect day...and that makes me SMILE!

PROJECT 365 PICTURE OF THE DAY 3/17/11

Happy St. Patrick's Day! As has been the case for many years, the leprechauns did choose to visit our house again. They tipped over the chairs and left a note...this years visitors are named Patrick, Seamus and Fred. Along with their note they left each of the boys a lucky penny for the day and Lucky Charms that they had already opened and spilled over the table. It is a tradition in our house to have these little guys visit us. When the boys were young, they would see them scampering across the ground inside or run across the grass outside ;)...I think they still see them, but just don't admit it. Tonight we had corned beef, red potatos, green beans, and kiwi topped of with store bought key lime cake...nothing like celebrating the Irish.

PROJECT 365 PICTURE OF THE DAY 2/14/11

Even though we don't celebrate Valentine's as a huge holiday, I had fun putting together this little surprise. Along with the red bowls and Crunchberries cereal (which was pretty festive, if I do say so myself), I included a box of candy for each of the boys along with a note to each of them which said "5 things I love about you right now"...While I'm not positive they all really read them, I wanted them to know that I appreciate each of them and where they are and things they do RIGHT NOW. Tonight, we are making heart shaped homemade pizza and I have to make the pink strawberry cake for dessert. I'm not the best baker, even if it's in a mix, but I think I can handle this one. Fun to celebrate and be thankful for those you love...this day and every day.

PROJECT 365 PICTURE OF THE DAY 2/11/11

Yesterday, I found these 3 little cherubs I had used for Christmas over the years and realized they were perfect for Valentine's Day. I had this photo card in a frame and the vase was empty...inspiration hit and I ran to Michaels where I purchased the colored paper and these fun plastic hearts. They were 40% off which is cool and they were large enough to help fill the vase up. I love when these little thoughts in my mind come together, especially for just a few dollars. We will enjoy it as we celebrate Valentine's Day. Also, bought some fun red bowls (49 cents a piece) that I will use for ice cream sundaes and cereal on Valentine's. These little punches of color and celebration really make me happy and the best part is that all the boys noticed the decorations and even the new red bowls.
