PROJECT 365 PICTURE 4/8/11

Nick and I spent the day touring UCCS in Colorado Springs. While a beautiful setting from within the campus...and an amazing view of Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods, this school is most likely NOT going to be where Nick goes to college. There are various reasons, and, as he just said, it would be a good school for people, but not for me. I would have to agree. I really can't picture him there now or long term and the engineering program seems good but not overly dynamic and competitive. Who knows if that is our interpretation, but it's a relatively small program with room to grow, but without the perfect fit all the way around, this isn't it. What was really awesome about today is that Nick and I got to spend the day together and had some funny experiences and that counts as much as anything in the world. So hard to imagine he will be 17 on Monday...for a little while, I had a flashback of all the years leading up to this day. Next stop: CSU on April 18. Whether he goes there or not, I think he will have a good feeling about it.

PROJECT 365 PICTURE OF THE DAY 4/7/11

Very fun outing today with mom, Tami, Carly and Elli. We went to see Carly compete in her schools Battle of the Books (they won!) and then went to Landsdowne Arms for dinner. It was such a nice out with the girls time. Thanks for a nice dinner mama!

PROJECT 365 PICTURE OF THE DAY 4/6/11

Today, Todd and I met up for a lunch date at Los Dos Potrillos. I invited him yesterday but he couldn't so today he called and said his meeting had been cancelled so he could meet today. Glad it worked out. I finished my "Zumba" and got up there. Sometimes, that is the one time we can catch up and figure out schedules. We are thinking of getting tickets to "The Cars"...both of us loved them in the 80's. They haven't had an album out since 1987 and that would be a very fun date.

PROJECT 365 PICTURE OF THE DAY 4/4/11

Remember the Alamo...Chris is finishing up his work on the "scene" for his History I-Search project. He is so good at building things and of course, drawing. His English teacher has asked for him to paint a book cover on his "podium" so he starts that tomorrow. What a talent he has and does it without even having to think about it. It will be fun to see how he continues with his creativity all through life...may he never lose it or put it aside because he's too good to do that.

PROJECT 365 PICTURE OF THE DAY 4/3/11

FUTURE WYOMING COWBOY??? Time will tell, but Nick was very impressed with the campus and opportunities there and liked the landscape and the entire overview. It would be a great school for him and not TOO far away from home, but the thought of that right now is almost more than I can imagine and bear. It was sure nice to have him HOME after his visit. We head to UCCS this Friday and then CSU on the 18th to check those campusses out also. It will be interesting to see what he thinks about that. What a great opportunity for him to see what he likes and doesn't like about different campusses. U Wyo didn't have any minuses in his mind.

PROJECT 365 PICTURE OF THE DAY 4/2/11

SUPER ZACH hits the field today. Even though the Cobras lost 0-3, Zach played almost the whole game and was a leader on and off the field as well as playing awesomely well. I looked out on the field and couldn't see him until I realized he was the tall one with the blonder hair. All of the sudden, he looks so much older and "big kid" like. I guess that happens when you're almost 12, but it hit me hard this afternoon. Way to go, Zach!
